Frequently asked questions

Does Fisherina work offline?

Yes. Fish identification, your catch journal, solunar forecasts, the barometer, knots, and tools all work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed to start or restore a subscription and to send anonymous, optional analytics.

How accurate is the fish identification?

The AI runs on your device and recognizes hundreds of freshwater and saltwater species. It's a strong guide, but not a legal authority โ€” always verify before keeping or eating a fish, and check your local regulations.

Managing your subscription

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. To view, change, or cancel:

Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the current period. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Restore a purchase

New phone or reinstalled the app? Go to Settings โ†’ Subscription โ†’ Restore Purchases (you must be signed in with the same Apple ID used to buy). Restoring requires an internet connection.

The paywall says it can't load subscriptions

Starting or restoring a subscription needs an internet connection (Apple processes the purchase). Connect to Wiโ€‘Fi or cellular and tap Retry.

Requesting a refund

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the purchase.

Backing up your journal

Keep iCloud Backup on (App Settings โ†’ Your Data) so your catches, photos, goals, and spots survive reinstalling the app and follow you to a new iPhone. You can also export a manual backup file from Settings โ†’ Manual Backup & Restore.

Permissions & privacy

Camera, Photos, Location, Motion, and Notifications are all optional and used only for their features. Manage them in App Settings โ†’ Privacy or in iOS Settings. We don't run our own servers, don't require an account, and don't sell your data โ€” see the Privacy Policy.

Changing the app language

Open Settings โ†’ Language and pick a language, then restart the app to apply it (independent of your device language).
